Sachets for Shantay!

These easy to make felt lavender drawer sachets also make a great gift especially if you know someone named Shantay.

You will need:

Per Sachet:

Embroidery Thread in contrasting color

2 – Scraps of felt cut into 4″ x 4.5″ rectangles

I used;  Limeade, Hot Pink, Slushie and White

Thread to match felt

Small hole tulle – 1/8 yard will make 2 sachets

Approx 4 tbs Lavender flowers or potpourri for filling

Helpful but not required;

Printer size freezer paper or packing tape to aid with cutting.

Template of outline – The sheep shape is below but you can use just about any shape.

Pencil to lightly mark out straight lines for stitching.

Sheep Sachets made from felt

Let’s make our drawers smell good!

Tape or iron your template onto one of the felt rectangles and cut center out.

It helps to remove the center a little at a time giving your scissors more room to work so cuts are as clean as possible.

Cut Centers from templates - DIY Felt Drawer pillows

Fold the 1/8 yard of tulle in half and fold like an accordion pin into place behind cutout.

Stitch around cutout shape with a running stitch and matching thread to attach.

Sew sheep shapes to create drawer sachets DIY

Cut away any tulle that extends past any of the sides. If desired use a pencil to lightly mark out straight lines for stitching.

Lay front piece on top of matching felt back and stitch together using a backstitch…

What’s a back stitch you ask? A back stitch is the running stitches drunk older brother.

Here’s a quick video refresher:

See that’s not hard at all!

Orchid Inspired Felt Colors

Left to right: Forget me not, Orchid, Lavender, Sweet Pea felt sheets.

After staring at our selection of purples for a while I have come to the conclusion Radiant Orchid is a combo of all of these shades.

So we will call this a “Color of the year – Inspired Felt Friday”

Which color do you think most invokes the Color of the Year?
