How to make a Halloween Tree

Make an easy halloween tree - how to

Making ornaments is too much fun to limit to once a year! And thus the Halloween tree was born.

Small enough to fit into your decor without clutter but with a big impact, this tree can be sized up or down and made with things you may already have on hand.

Check out how easy it is to add a fabulous tree to your Halloween decor this season.

To make a Halloween Tree you will need:

A branch– any size any shape.

The one here is 22″ tall and about 12″ at it’s widest.  You can easily trim to size or even hot glue branches into places you’d like them to be. Keep in mind you will need about 3′-4″ at the base for the foam to hold. Just make sure your branch has dried out and give it a quick rinse and scrub with a kitchen sponge so paint adheres better.

Black spray paint

Container of your choice, a vase, a small pot or even a small plastic pumpkin works great as long as it is deep enough to hold 3″ or more.

Floral foam (the hard crunchy kind) sized to your container.

Moss

Hot glue gun and glue

Serrated saw or knife to cut foam

Black Glitter (optional)

Spray paint a branchAfter you have cleaned and dried the branch give it a good spray of black spray paint and quickly follow with a hearty sprinkle of glitter, turn slightly and repeat until you have covered the whole branch. Allow to dry.

Fall in stock, come explore the colors of the season at American Felt and Craft.

Fit foam to your container making sure it fits snugly inside. Cut with serrated knife to fit.

Glue moss to foam

Brush off excess glitter. Press the branch into the foam. Hot glue moss into place small sections at a time to cover foam. And you’ve got an amazing Halloween tree you’ll enjoy year after year. Now onto the ornament making…
