Looking for a unique way to dress up your walls? These constellation hoops are a fun and easy way to dress up any space. Because the stars are small fusible webbing is a must which makes this project very low sew and super simple.
Choose constellations based on the season, a star sign of someone special or just what speaks to you. I have included some sketches of the most common constellations on the template. But as you can imagine the possibilities are endless.
Using glow in the dark felt makes lights out a stunning stargazing event.
You will need:
Scraps of Glo felt
8″ x 8″ Dark blue felt for hoop background here I used Ink
Yellow green thread.
Fusible Webbing
6″ Embroidery Hoop
Template at the end of post
*Matching Thread
Cut 8″ circle of felt and set aside.
Follow the directions for your fusible webbing and iron onto the back of your glow in the dark felt scrap.
Remove paper backing. when cool. Cut star shapes. The iron on backing will insure even the smallest stars hold together and don’t fray. Star shapes can be cut from template or freehanded.
To freehand start with a square cut out v shapes along the side using the corners as a guide. See the template for more info.
Lay out your choosen constellation on the circle. Move the stars around varying the sizes until you are happy with the placement.
Follow the directions on your webbing and iron stars down.
Allow to cool and mount into hoop.
Connect stars with a running stitch and yellow green thread.
Share your creations on our Facebook page or tag us on Instagram I’d love to see what you make.
