Felt Bunny Hoops

Sweet bunny craft - spring crafts - felt hoops

After a long grey winter, spring brings a welcome splash of color.

Celebrate color and deck the walls with these whimsical felt bunny hoops. They make easy spring crafts that can be hung with a simple tack and add spring color and flair to any room.

For 3 bunny hoops you will need:

3 – 4″ embroidery hoops

White Fur Felt 2-  9″ x 12″ sheets*

3″ x 3″ felt scrap for felt for inner ears, I used prints in Spring Zig Zag, Pink Dot and Subtle Scale. *

3″ x 3″ Black felt for eyes*

1″ x 1″ Brown for nose (Chocolate Moose)*

5″x 6″ felt scrap in at least 4 colors I used, Powder Blue, Morning Glory, Orchid, Pink Tutu, Bubblegum, Pink Amaranth, Lavender

Felt scraps in leaf colors I used Granny Smith and Cilantro

Small pom poms

Embroidery thread in black and white

Hot glue gun and glue

Free Printable template

*Matching thread

Cut:

2 eyes from black felt

1 nose from brown felt

2 ears from fur felt (Flip the pattern over for one side so both ears curve towards the center.)

2 Ear centers from felt print (Flip the pattern over for one side so both inner ears curve towards the center.)

Flowers you will need about 6-7 per hoop. Cut 2 flower shapes per daisy and 1 of each rose shape. Cutting Detailed Letters and Shapes from Felt

Felt Bunny Craft

Stitch inner ears to outer ears with an applique stitch and matching thread.

IMG_8775Fit fur felt into 4″ hoop and trim to fit

Sew eyes into place with an applique stitch and black thread as shown on the template. IMG_8777Stitch nose into place with brown thread and an applique stitch. IMG_8779Sew sides onto eyes with black embroidery thread and a running stitch. Stitch smile with the same thread. Set aside.

Making Felt Flower Crown

IMG_8781Stack daisy sides together and glue the center to hold. Glue pom poms into center if desired. Set aside.

Roll flower from open end towards center. Glue as you go as needed. At the end place large end over the curled up felt and glue down.

Cut felt leaves from green felts.

Assembling your bunny hoop

IMG_8795Lay leaves and flowers down as desired and hot glue into place.

IMG_8825With white embroidery thread add a highlighting stitch to each eye. IMG_8798Glue bunny ears into place on the back.

Baby Bunnies with Carrot Bottles

What’s more adorable than a bunny? A baby bunny obviously. These simple DIY bunnies feature removable diapers and carrot shaped bottles. These little guys go together in no time and are a great DIY felt craft for spring or anytime you need more baby bunnies in your life.

Felt baby bunny pattern and tutorial free pattern craftYou will  need:

Felt for bunny body, inner ears, and tail,  we used White, Peanut Butter and Grey*

2″x 2″ scrap Pink felt for inner ears and noses we used Amaranth Pink*

Felt for diaper we used Honeydew, Sunshine and Sparrow

3″ x 3″ scrap orange felt for carrot, we used Carrot *

3″ x 3″ scrap green for carrot top, we used Cilantro

Black DCM or cross stitch thread

Stuffing

Felt glue (to fix diaper closed optional)

Bunny babies pattern template (end of post)

Cut:

2 bunny bodies, 2 of each bunny ear and 1 bunny tail per bunny

1 diaper from color of choice

1  inner ear and one nose from pink felt

1 carrot, 2 carrot strips from orange felt

1 set of carrot tops from green felt

felt bunny pattern freeStitch down nose and inner ears to one of the sides of both felt bunny ears and nose to body.  Stitch face details onto bunny. Use french knots for eyes.

bunny2Sew ear fronts to backs with an overcast stitch. Leave the bottom open to stuff.

how to make a felt bunnyStitch the ears to the body with a running stitch and then continue to overcast stitch around the outside stuffing each section as you go.

Pattern for felt bunny craftTo make felt diaper

felt diaper pattern Sew tail to the center back. Diaper can be folded on or glued if you don’t plan on changing any bunny diapers.

To make carrot bottle

Felt carrot for baby bunnies pattern and tutorial

Stack two strips on top of each other and sew down along the tip.

Fold so rounded edge is on top.

Overcast stitch along side. Sew small gathering stitches stitch loosely along top of carrot.

Stuff lightly. Stack carrot tops together stitch through base and pull to close up top.

Run the needle through the top and carrot a few times to secure.

Sew level stitches along the carrot body to give it a few dents. Knot. Fluff out carrot top.
