Make llama tassels

p

You will need 6 tassels for this project. 3 for each side.

The steps are shown in different colors for clarity.

  1. Cut out rectangle from cardboard and lay a 4″ length of string down (the blue thread)
  2.  Wrap cross stitch thread around in the opposite way 12x (the punch colored thread)
  3. Slide the 4″ piece (blue) to the top and knot
  4. Slide the looped threads (punch colored) off the cardboard
  5. Pinch the top (where the knot is) and loop a second 6″ piece (mustard color) around 5x and knot tightly. Clip the ends.
  6. Fit scissors into the looped area and cut to create tassel ends.

For the llama ears project I have use the same color thread for each step.

String llama tassels

To string thread a doll needle with 1 foot of white embroidery thread, do not double over. Knot the end of the string and pull it through the center of your tassel.

Tie another knot at the top of the tassel to secure.

tassel.jpg

One inch from tassel top tie another knot and  thread a medium sized pom pom through. One inch from the pom pom knot and thread a tassel through.

Knot again and add the large size pom pom.

Repeat the knot and thread process with the final medium pom pom. Knot one more time at the top. The knots will keep the tassels and pom poms from sliding and the top knot will make it easier to glue the strings to the clips.
