You are my sunshine – Felt ornament tutorial

You will need:

Bright yellow (Banana Cream Pie) *

Muted Yellow (Mustard Seed)

Stiff gold felt

Felt scrap for stuffing

Black embroidery thread

Sequins (Baby Pink)

*Matching thread.

Cut:

1 Sunshine back from glitter felt and 1 sunshine back from muted yellow felt.

1 Sunshine face from bright yellow felt and 2 smaller circles from scrap for stuffing

Instructions

Sew face onto front of sunshine with black embroidery thread, using french knots for yes and small stitches to make nose and mouth as marked on the felt sun pattern.

Stitch sequins down for cheeks.

Stack felt circles in the center of the muted yellow burst shape.

Sew face to muted yellow sunburst with a running stitch.

Felt ornaments are more than just a great way to decorate your home for the holidays they also make amazing handmade memories for your friends and family for holidays to come. I never get tired of creating customized DIY felt ornaments, not only can these little sewing projects be crafted up in a single afternoon but the ability to personalize them is limitless. Making each one a unique and personal gift.

In the spirit of happy memories these 3 little birds are a sweet reminder that every little thing is going to be alright. The pattern for these 3 little birds in with a sunny 70s orange aesthetic can also be done in pastels, or neons or just about any color that makes your heart happy.

You will need:

Felt for each bird body (Egg Yolk, Auburn, Mustard, Sweet Potato, Saddle Brown, Monarch Butterfly) *

Felt for each bird tail ( Mustard, Sweet Potato, Saddle Brown) *

Felt for each bird wing (Egg Yolk, Auburn, Saddle Brown) *

Scrap felt for feet, beak and eye (Saddle Brown) *

Stuffing

Felt or fabric glue (optional)

*Matching thread

Cut:

For each bird – 2 bird bodies, 1 bird tail and one wing.

Cut one each of eye, beak and feet from brown felt.

Instructions

Sew tail to front of bird body, sew wing down along tail with a running stitch and matching thread.

Sew eye, beak and feet into place with a few stitches and matching thread or glue with fabric glue down.

Sew body pieces together with an overcast stitch and matching thread.

Stuff lightly before closing. Sew a loop through to hang.

Felt Narwhal Ornament Pattern

Narwhals are the unicorns of the sea, these majestic whales are a magical addition to your felt ornament collection. And I think we can all agree when it comes to Christmas and magic more is more! These adorable felt narwhals are simple to create and this pattern to make narwhal ornament can be recreated in any (or all) colors of the rainbow.

You will need:

Pale purple felt* (Amethyst Purple)

2″ square of scrap heathered purple felt (Plum Crazy) *

1″ x 2″ scrap Stiff gold glitter felt (Gold)

Sequins (Cherry Limeaide)

Black embroidery thread

*Matching Thread

Cut:

2 Narwhal bodies from pale purple felt.

1 horn from gold glitter felt

1 of each fin and narwhal belly from heathered purple felt.

Sew belly to front of one narwhal body with a running stitch you can do this with matching thread or contrasting thread for a more whimsical look.

Add front fin with an X shaped stitch.

Sew face details to front with black embroidery thread.

Sew sequins and horn to front.

Sew back to front with a running stitch and matching thread add a doubled over length of ribbon before closing or sew a loop to hang. Sew back fin to piece.

Blob Fish Felt Ornament Pattern and Tutorial

Blob fish are often referred to as the worlds ugliest animal but this sad face falls under the so ugly it’s cute category if you ask me. After the year we’ve had ask yourself…isn’t there a little blob fish in all of us?

Create a so ugly it’s cute blob fish felt ornament with the free pattern and tutorial below and add a little blobby squish to your tree.

You will need:

6″ x 6″ pale pink felt ( Shell Pink ) *

2″ x 2″ scrap of darker pink for details (Amaranth Pink )*

5 – 6mm pale pink or clear sequins (Crystal)

Black embroidery thread

Thread or ribbon for hanging

Cut:

2 Blob fish bodies and 2 blob fish noses from pale pink felt

1 fin, 1 tail and 1 mouth from darker pink felt

Sew fin down to one of the body pieces with a running stitch and matching thread.

Stitch black smile to blob fish mouth with a single strand of black embroidery thread. Stitch detailed mouth to the blob fish body.

Stack the two blob fish noses.

Stitch down nose with an applique stitch and matching thread. Create eyes with two french knots made from a double length of black embroidery thread.

Sew tail to blob fish front with a running stitch and matching thread. Add sequins as marked on the blob fish pattern.

Sew blob fish front to back with an overcast stitch and matching thread. Add a doubled over ribbon along the top before closing if you plan to hang with ribbon. You can also stitch a loop of embroidery thread to create a loop to hang.
