DIY Starfish Ornaments

13 Dec

Real starfish belong in the sea but these sparkly star fish deserve a spot on your tree. Sparkling sequins bounce the light from your tree while the knots give the pieces much needed texture. Best of all these DIY starfish ornaments is simple once you master the french knot, although you could always just tie a knot and sew through the back if need be.

These felt starfish were crafted in subtle pastel shades but these would look great in neutrals or even some bright aquas or pinks. These starfish stuffies also look great adorning a gift or hanging from a mobile, read on for the tutorial and free DIY felt starfish pattern.

You will need:

4″ x 8″ felt scrap for each starfish

I used Bisque, Teal, and Antique White

Sequins I used Just Peachy, Crystal and Snow White

Stuffing

Embroidery thread I used white can also be used to hang

Cut

Two star fish

Sew sequins down and add french knots as indicated on pattern.

Overcast stitch the starfish front to back stuffing as you go.

Sew a loop to hang with embroidery thread if you plan to use your felt starfish stuffie as an ornament.

Happy Crafting
