I sunburn super easily and I live in AZ the nonsense of which is very indicative of my life choices in general.
Everywhere I go I am surrounded by golden tanned people and their healthy glows but alas, after years of blistering sunburns I am content knowing that look will always elude me.
Point being I use a LOT of sunscreen and I mean a LOT, like take the amount you are thinking and triple it. Sunscreen has become a pal, my personal super hero. So without further ado I present to you my ode to sunscreen.
These sunscreen felties have different sized squeakers inside because why wouldn’t they? Here’s to unsung super heroes!
You will need: (per felt sunblock friend)
4″ x 4″ Felt Stripe and Top color, I used Macaw and Aqua
4″ x 5″ Sunscreen bottle color I used White
3.5″ x 2″ scrap for sun background I used Sunshine and Mustard Seed
2″ x 2″ felt scrap for sun front I used Sunshine and Mustard Seed
Black scrap for mouth and numbers 3’x 3″ should be more than enough
2- 6mm safety eyes
Squeakers: I used Medium and Large.
Find the center of the top and mark where you would like to place the eyes.
Create small holes, poke safety eyes through and add safety backings. Glue mouth into place and set aside.
Add stripes to the body of one of the sunscreen bottle pieces as marked on felt craft template below.
Use felt glue or small stitches to tack down the SPF numbers into the center of the sun shape. Lay sun background in between the two stripes and sew the number/ sun center down as shown. Place the two bottle body pieces together and overcast stitch around the edges. Stuffing lightly as you go, add squeaker to the center.
Place the face cap around the base trim and stitch to fit and overcast stitch to the sunscreen body as shown.
Overcast stitch the base to the cap and name your new friends.
Mine are named SPFFY and Casper.
Happy Crafting~
Andie
