Stuffing
Pencil to trace (optional)
Felt Ice Cream Template at the end of this post.
*Matching embroidery aka Cross Stitch thread.
Fold long ends of ice cream piece together and overcast stitch together. Lightly stuff but leave the very tip a little unstuffed to curl it later.
Stitch around the opening with a gathering stitch, pull closed and run the need through a few times. Using a full stand of embroidery thread not doubled over go in through the base and out through the base of the body. and wrap around. Pass needle through the tip and create a tiny stitch back to the base to make a curl and hide the knot.
Hold wrapped string in place with small tacking stitches along the body of the ice cream. (see below for a close up of tacking stitches) Place with the tip of the ice cream a little to get it to curl. Set aside.
Cone Time!
Cut out cone base from light brown felt, lightly trace the triangle shapes with pencil. Stitch along pencil marks with long stitches and a full strand of cross stitching thread doubled over.
Go back over long stitches with short stitches into the centers to hold the thread down. As shown. These are tacking stitches.
Put long ends of the felt cone together and sew to form a tube. Stuff Lightly.
Sew ice cream to cone with an over cast stitch. You will be covering up this part of the cone so don’t worry about perfection.
Sew or glue rim to the top of the cone and overcast stitch base onto bottom of cone.
Happy Crafting!
